About · The practice

The independent practice of Richard Lopez.

Technical direction, project management, and AV production for live events, brand activations, and installations — working with Arc'teryx, Chanel, Hisense, Hitachi, TED, and long-tenure clients like Quadra Chemicals.

The short version

I build the technical layer under events that need to work perfectly the first time — LED walls, projection systems, live production, and the project management that makes those systems land on schedule.

What Pixonics does

Pixonics is a sole-proprietor practice organized around three sub-brands: Live for video production, LED walls, and projection; Fab for custom parts and hardware; and Solutions for the project management, technical direction, and consultation work that stitches complex productions together. In practice, most projects touch two or all three at once.

How I work

Live production is a coordination problem — hardware, timeline, people. My whole approach is to over-invest in pre-production so the live moments have room to breathe. Racks are diagrammed. Cable runs are labeled. Every screen destination is proofed against its content before the trucks leave the shop. When the crew gets on site, the plan is already in the building; we're just uncrating it.

The clients I do my best work with treat AV as part of the creative — not a service the creative sits on top of. When the technical layer is trusted, the show can shift in real time without anyone worrying about whether the system will hold.
